Had a heart check today. From my own students. They reminded today how important it is that I remain light and that they are always watching. Sometimes working with high schoolers, it can be frustrating. Sometimes I feel unappreciated & drained.

Some days, I’m guarded and withhold my sunshine; I let my flesh win and act sour.

I tell myself, “well since they have an attitude and I feel disrespected, so will I.” I know, very immature. 😭

But today, I opened the floor for them to express themselves to me; and I walked away feeling better but convicted.

Today, I was reminded how important it is to bring the sunshine in every room I walk in—even if it’s not there. Matching energy isn’t always the answer. If the energy doesn’t carry sunshine, it’s up to me to bring it.

When I apologized to them and let my guard down, I genuinely felt better. Allowing them the space to share how they felt, opened the space for me to also share how I felt. With this exchange, gloom left the room and sunshine crept in.

I’m grateful God is interested in working on my heart daily.

I’m grateful that even if the sun is not physically out, God allows His Holy Spirit to always be the sunshine. Grateful He allows us to carry it.

Love isn’t a word, it’s an action. If I say I love Him, I’m asking myself do my actions match this?

Can I remain kind & patient when I’m under pressure or overwhelmed?

Was i kind or snappy to my co-workers?

Did I demonstrate love or irritation to my students or children?

Did I partner with my flesh or the Holy Spirit?

Yallllllllllllll. 😩

Im just being truthful. These are some questions the Holy Spirit has challenged me with within the last few days.
