I like hosting Bible Challenges. Doing them with others provides the opportunity to fellowship. It also gives accountability to stay consistent with The Word.

The Importance of the Book of Judges:
Have you ever turned your back from God’s way and decided to do things your way instead? Another question to think about—why do we revert back to our old ways over time after God saves us? What causes this return to familiar habits? The book of Judges illustrates how The Twelve Tribes of Israel had no earthly king because they were to serve God as their king. This required the people to follow and obey God—at the time, this was situation rarely existed. The people soon became unfaithful to God. They followed their own ways instead of God’s. This sounds similar to the times we currently are living in. As a result, God allowed their enemies to oppress them. The Israelite’s repented and God forgave them. He even appointed multiple leaders (known as the Judges) among them to conquer their enemy. Their hearts were turned back to God. However, soon after they were delivered, they went back to their old ways and the cycle repeated. We can learn the importance of staying faithful to God from the book of Judges, even after He saves us.

Prayer
Dear Father,
I thank You for hearing my cry. I thank You that in times of trouble, I can call on You for rescue and refuge. Lord, as I study the book of Judges this month, may Your word come alive to me. May I apply the teachings to my own life. I pray I stop taking your mercy for granted. I pray I stop returning to dead places that You have so faithfully delivered me from. May I be faithful to You in return. May my love and loyalty for You be true. I pray that you open my heart. Help me receive any correction and conviction you place on my heart from this study.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
